Your personnel consultancy in Lisbon – Pape Consulting Group AG

The capital of Portugal: on the waves of seafaring. A long history, from the rise through shipping and trade, to the crest of a wave in the form of a huge tsunami in the middle of the 18th century, which meant the temporary ruin of the city. To a renewed rise and the current situation: structural problems due to the decline in population. The expertise of the PAPE Consulting Group can also make a valuable contribution to the troubled seas of Lisbon through personnel consulting.

History

A trading port has existed in Lisbon Bay since Roman times. In Julius Caesar’s time, the settlement was granted Roman city rights. In the 8th century, the Moors invaded the Iberian peninsula. Lisbon was also taken in the process. In the 12th century, the Second Crusade brought the city under Christian rule, which lasted from then on. Around 100 years later, Lisbon became the capital of the Kingdom of Portugal. Around 1500, the port and thus trade was largely responsible for the wealth and the preceding rise.

Economy

Greater Lisbon contributes 45% of Portugal’s total economic output. This makes it one of the most prosperous areas in Portugal. This economic strength is mainly based on the service industry. As an interface between land and sea transport, Lisbon’s seaport is both an industrial location and a service centre. It is therefore not surprising that 7 of the 10 largest listed companies in Portugal are located here. In addition, the stock exchange in Lisbon is part of the „multi-country stock exchange“ Euronext, which is made up of the stock exchanges in Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris.
